The Election Commission of India is a constitutional body of the republic constituted by the constitution of India. It is enacted by the Article 13A of the constitution & is comprised of 3 members including a chief election commissiner who have the power to declare elections, define rules for the process & conduct the affair as per the laws legislated in the Article & disqualify candidates applying for the nomination in an election on the basis of the code of conduct. It can bar candidates found violating the statutary rules from contesting elections for a certain period of time or for ever. The election commission of India is the governing body of the election event in India.
