Crinformations

This is a page I have designed where I'll be posting trivia information about cricket, which's very rarely known, but interesting. It may be a record, an information about any player or any anecdote of any match. I'll be posting really interesting & important stuff here, I promise. So guys, watch out & have interest, you're going to be bombarded with a rain of crinformations.

The beginning of One-Day cricket

I am beginning the series if Crinfo with the story of how the one-day international cricket was started. Many of you might not be knowing & many might be believing that the ODI cricket must have started much before when it actually did. But the fact is that the ODI version was discovered accidentally. It was in the year 1971 that the first ODI match was played as a consolation match. The thing which was there was that there was a Test match to be played between Eng & WI from 01st to 05th January. The first 4 days of the match were washed out by rain completely. On the 5th day of the Test, the game was possible. The administrators thought that the game now is wasteful to be played as it as it will be draw only. So they planned a limited overs 60-over per side unofficial match to be played between both the sides as the spectators had got bored for four days & should be provided some entertainment. So the match was played & it was a big hit. Both the players & the spectators enjoyed it much. It was liked so much that then it was thought that this should be made a format of the game & played simultaneously along the Test. This is how the one-day game was invented.

Dravid & Laxman's record of not letting any wicket fall in a day in Test cricket is still unreplicated

This is the story about the famous India match of 2001 which India had won despite following on. We all remember that match fondly & cherish it as one of the most pleasant experiences of our life. But the thing which is rarely known is that it was only the third match in the history of 1,535 matches played till then in which a team had won following on. What a special achievement! VVS is really a diamond & India’s man in crisis who sailed India out of the storm many times in his career. The partnership between him & Dravid is really one of the most standout partnerships ever in test cricket & the accomplishment of theirs of not letting any wicket fall in a whole day is unprecedented & still a record. Laxman made us envious of his attainment & made all of us fantasise of being a high-scores batsman.

Our biggest victory by far.

Some more than expected successful bowlers

This is about some bowlers who have been more successful in terms of taking wickets than many bigger & more capable bowlers. Like Shahid Afridi – we all know that Afridi was an all-rounder & perfomed to the top in ODI games. But most of us don’t know that he is the fifth highest wicket takers in ODIs & has taken more wickets than McGrath. His tally is 395, only behind Murlidharan, Akram, Younis & Vaas. & McGrath’s & Pollock’s tallies are 381 & 394 respectively. Afridi has scored 8,000 runs also in ODIs & has many records to his name. Similarly, Jaisurya has more wickets to his credit than Warne (323 vs 293). Genuine all-rounders all these are amazingly successful.

Really amazing, so many bowlers of higher repute couldn't match this record.

Talented bowlers.

Leach's amazing record

This is regard to the Ashes miracle of last year. Stokes had played a beauty of an innings & England won a bravo of a Test. But very few people know that the last wicket partnership of 76 runs that Stokes had in the chasing inning of that match with Jack Leach, Leach had scored only one run in that. It is amazing how he showed patience & temperament & avoided taking risks & Stokes also handled the situation superbly trying his best to retain all the strikes.

Moeen Ali & Ashwin remind of such tailers who have the capacity of smacking a few of the top bowlers.

Some countries have a queue of such tal-tailers, while others struggle to find one for long.

Some bowlers find it easy to smash a few lusties for some overs, while some struggle even with experience.

VVS Laxman's also played many such innings for India. He's a real crisis man.
Yes, Just like Steve Waugh & Gillispie in Calcutta, 2001.

A mountaineously offensive record

This is a mountaineously offensive record by Sehwag. He has smashed 4 on the 1st ball of an inning 54 times in international cricket. What a super aggression! Batsmen struggle to hit attack after overs of staying in the crease. & This monster has done it 54 times on the 1st ball. Amazingly outstanding. Way to go Sehwag!

Best seasons of IPL

Today's crinformation is about IPL. IPL has been played for 12 seasons. But the best has been 2 seasons - 2016 for Kohli's marathon 973 runs & 2014 for Maxwell's super performance at a SR of over 200. Both these performances are the best in IPL. Maxwell struck form from the 1st match making a 90(43). Then he again made a 89(44) in the 2nd match only & a 95(43) in the 3rd match only. This way he got in momentum & continued in form. He played many such innings in that season but failed in the final. Kohli's 973 is the greatest performance of IPL including 4 hundreds. Both are record in a single season. In that year Kohli averaged over 100 in T20s. These 2 are my favourite performances of IPL.
